On the occasion of the General Forum on Industry, this Tuesday, November 25, 2025, the Haitian Minister of Trade and Industry, James Monazard, met with Ms. Fatou Haidara, Deputy Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to discuss a strengthened partnership to modernize the Haitian industry.
Discussions focused on the evaluation of the Haiti-UNIDO country project (2015-2016) and the implementation of the objectives of the Doha Programme of Action 2022-2031, particularly targeting the least developed countries. Both sides stressed the importance of creating sustainable strategic partnerships to stimulate Haitian industry.
Minister James Monazard recalled the philosophy of his ministry: « A country is not transformed by luck, but by the collective will to invest, innovate and build. Where investment meets the vision, the future begins to change. Haiti does not demand compassion, but cooperation that allows nations to stand up for themselves. » This approach is consistent with the industrial modernization approach undertaken alongside UNIDO.
UNIDO supports developing countries in creating jobs, strengthening the industrial fabric and adopting clean technologies, while promoting inclusive and innovative economic growth.
The meeting was a concrete step towards enhanced cooperation between Haiti and UNIDO, placing industrial modernization and youth training at the heart of the country ' s economic development.
