New York, November 24, 2025.- Haiti reaffirmed its commitment against trafficking in persons at the United Nations High Level Meeting, held in New York on 24 and 25 November 2025. The Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Georges Wilbert Franck, presented the national measures and the new National Strategy 2025-2035, aimed at protecting victims and strengthening international cooperation.
In his speech, the Minister highlighted global progress in the fight against this scourge and detailed the actions of Haiti: strengthening the legal and institutional framework, financing prevention programmes, protection and prosecution. The 2025-2035 strategy aims to coordinate State efforts and optimize response mechanisms to trafficking in persons.
The delegation of Haiti, comprising the Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons (CNLTP), André Ibreus, and the representative of the Protector of the Citizen, Amos Auguste, acceded to the Political Declaration 2025, adopted by consensus. The Haitian Government reaffirms its commitment to strengthening international partnerships and reducing the causes of trafficking, including insecurity.
Haiti's participation reflects a renewed commitment by the Transitional Presidential Council and the Government to protect citizens and contribute to the global effort against this inhumane phenomenon.
