Port-au-Prince, March 23, 2026.- The Minister of Planning, Sandra Paulemon and the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Haiti, Nicole Kouassi, held a strategic meeting this March 23, aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Haitian government and the United Nations system. Objective: to better align international interventions with national priorities in a context of transition and recovery.
The Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE) and the United Nations system intend to strengthen their collaboration. This meeting is part of a dynamic mobilization of international partners around the priorities defined by the Haitian authorities, notably within the framework of the National Pact for Stability and the Organisation of Elections.
Discussions focused on several key issues: economic and social recovery, the return of displaced persons, strengthening public institutions and improving living conditions. The stated objective is to ensure better coherence between the actions of UN agencies and the needs identified by the Haitian state.
The authorities stressed the need for more effective cooperation, oriented towards measurable results. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of quick-impact projects, particularly in the health, education and support sectors for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Both sides agreed to strengthen monitoring and consultation mechanisms to improve the effectiveness of interventions. This approach aims to optimize the use of available resources and better respond to the challenges of sustainable development in Haiti.
