More than 100 representatives of different religious denominations from the North met in Villa Caracol on Friday, August 7, as part of the second phase of the National Conference of Religious Leaders for Peace, Stability and Civicism. This meeting, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs (MAEC), follows the national conference held in Port-au-Prince on 28 and 29 May 2026. It also brings together representatives of several public institutions.
The discussions focused on security and peace issues, social cohesion, youth integration and the electoral process. The organizers believe that religious communities, because of their presence on the ground and their influence among the population, can contribute to awareness-raising, dialogue and citizen participation initiatives in a context marked by the crisis in the country.
At the opening of the work, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs, Raina Forbin, called for closer collaboration between the State and religious leaders to accompany efforts to restore security, prepare for the next elections and promote stability. This conference is part of a series of consultations conducted by the authorities with different sectors of society on the main challenges facing Haiti.
