On Friday, August 7, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) reached a new stage in the preparations for the next elections. Eighteen political groups, comprising 236 registered parties, completed their registration before the closure of the procedure set for 6 August 2026.
Extended until 6 August, the registration period officially ended at 9:50 p.m. on Thursday, in the presence of a justice of the peace of Petion-Ville, according to the CEP. The institution has published on its official platforms the list of registered groups as well as the list of parties that make up them.
The CEP must now analyse the files submitted before making public the list of approved political groups on 8 August. The official registration of the selected groupings is scheduled for 10-14 August, in accordance with the electoral calendar. The Council reaffirms its commitment to conduct the process in accordance with the principles of inclusion, impartiality, transparency and integrity.
