Washington, July 17, 2025. The White House confirmed this Thursday that US President Donald Trump is suffering from chronic venous insufficiency. Despite an observed swelling in the legs, his overall health remains excellent.

According to CBS News, this diagnosis was made following a preventive medical examination by the Presidential Medical Unit. No serious pathology, such as deep venous thrombosis or arterial disease, was detected. Dr. Barbabella stated that the president does not have any heart, kidney or systemic problems.

The medical note, however, shows slight bruising on the back of his hand, attributed to repeated handshakes and the use of aspirin as part of a cardiovascular prevention protocol. Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), of which the president is suffering, is a common condition after 50 years, usually benign but sometimes painful.

Donald Trump, 79 years old, presents some aggravating factors for stroke, such as overweight, inheritance, sedentary behaviour, smoking, and prolonged standing or sitting. Treatment includes exercise, weight loss, low compression, or even medication or surgery in more severe cases. Dr. Barbabella concluded that no serious illness was identified.
