The Mayoress of Terrier-Rouge, Nadège François
Lima, 13 December 2025.- The Ambassador Mayor of Terrier-Rouge, Nadège François, on his way to Peru from 9 to 11 December, within the framework of the International Assembly of Peoples for the Sovereignty and Peace of our America, organized by networks of social movements and popular organizations gathered within the International Peoples-Assembly (IPA), took advantage of this meeting to engage in discussions with the Association of Fishermen of Venezuela, with a view to establishing South-South cooperation in the fisheries sector, i.e. fisheries and sustainable management of local marine resources, through exchanges between coastal communities.
Discussions focused on establishing a technical and community partnership between Terrier-Rouge and a coastal community in Venezuela. « I have presented my intention to establish cooperation in the field of fisheries between our associations, and they have welcomed this initiative. », said Nadège François, stressing the need for support from both states to make this project a reality.
Beyond intentions, such cooperation could promote an exchange of good practices: fishing techniques, conservation of marine products and sustainable resource management. Located in a protected area bordered by the Phaeton Sea, Terrier-Rouge enjoys a strategic position where fishing is an economic pillar for many families.
By launching this partnership with Venezuela, Mayor Nadège François seeks to strengthen local fishing while protecting Terrier-Rouge's marine resources. This initiative could offer new economic opportunities to coastal communities, while placing the municipality at the heart of a regional network of South-South cooperation, capable of providing concrete solutions and exchange of good practices to the environmental and economic challenges of the coast.
