The University of Technology of Haiti (UNITECH) organized in Pétion-Ville, on 29 and 30 July 2026, the first international symposium on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital transformation in Haiti. The event brought together representatives of the State, universities, the private sector, researchers, students and national and international partners.
Invited by UNITECH, UNESCO in Haiti participated in discussions on the main digital challenges. Discussions included artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data governance, digital infrastructure, scientific research and skills building.
On this occasion, UNESCO recalled that the development and use of artificial intelligence must remain human-centred, with respect for human dignity, fundamental rights, inclusion and equity. The organisation also stressed that education, research and skills development are essential levers for putting these technologies at the service of sustainable development.
