Santo Domingo, 30 April 2026.- Punta Cana International Airport was designated, Wednesday 29 April, the best airport in Central America and the Caribbean at the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2026. For the first time, he joined the world's top 100 and won a four-star certification, notably through the modernization of Terminal B ($90 million).
In 2025, the Dominican platform welcomed more than 11 million passengers (+10%) and provided more than 35,000 flights. It serves 81 destinations in 26 countries and offers high-end services. In the regional rankings, it is ahead of Juan Santamaría (Costa Rica) and Tocumen (Panama).
On the other hand, Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince remains paralyzed by a continuing security crisis. Despite basic technical standards, armed attacks, gang grip and international restrictions prevent the resumption of commercial flights.
The main gateway to Haiti, this strategic infrastructure remains today a symbol of the fragility of the country, affecting its connectivity and international image.
