Taiwan grants 750 000 $ to support internally displaced persons

Port-au-Prince, 22 September 2025.- The Embassy of Taiwan in Haiti provided the Fund for Economic and Social Assistance (FAES) with a cheque of US$750,000, the first tranche of the Korean Pep program. This funding is intended to support internally displaced families and the most vulnerable populations, heavily affected by the current humanitarian crisis.

 

The official ceremony was held at FAES, in the presence of Ambassador Cheng-hao HU of Taiwan and Director General Serge Gabriel Colin of FAES. The latter welcomed this gesture, which was described as « strong sign of solidarity »stressing that it will strengthen humanitarian interventions and provide direct support to families living in precarious conditions.

 

In his speech, Ambassador Cheng-hao HU recalled the historical friendship between Haiti and Taiwan, stressing the continuity of a sincere and lasting partnership. « This gesture demonstrates Taiwan's sincere friendship and constant support for the Haitian people », he said.

 

The Korean Pep programme, funded by Taiwan and implemented by the FAES, provides for several targeted actions: distribution of food aid, economic support and social protection. Through this partnership, the FAES reaffirms its commitment to work with solidarity, transparency and effectiveness to meet the urgent needs of people in difficulty.
