Quebec temporarily suspended family reunification applications for certain categories as part of the management of its immigration plan. The families concerned will have to wait after 25 June 2026 to submit a new application.
The Ministry of Immigration, Francisation and Integration (MIFI) has announced that it will no longer accept sponsorship applications for a spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner or dependent child 18 years of age or older, who has reached the quota for the period 26 June 2024 to 25 June 2026.
MIFI states that it has reached the threshold of 10,400 family reunification applications. Any excess claims will be returned to applicants without processing, and fees payable will not be paid.
However, applications for minor children or dependants due to physical or mental disability are not covered by this suspension.
Applications may be resubmitted once the receipt period is reopened, potentially after June 25, 2026.
