Pétion-Ville, July 11, 2025.- As part of its commitment to education in Haiti, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) handed over 16 vehicles and several essential equipment to the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) on Friday. This endowment, funded by the Global Partnership for Education, is part of a global project to strengthen the Haitian education system in a sustainable manner.
At a ceremony held at UNESCO headquarters in Pétion-Ville, the Haitian educational authorities received 16 vehicles to improve the mobility of MENFP teams, particularly in remote areas of the country. This donation is part of a strategic partnership between UNESCO and the Haitian government, with the financial support of the Global Partnership for Education (SMEs).
In addition to the vehicles, the United Nations organization also provided the technological and logistical equipment necessary for the proper functioning of the Ministry's services: computers, telephones and solar generators were handed over to managers to facilitate administrative and technical management.
In addition to these material allocations, UNESCO actively supports the strengthening of institutional skills through the organisation of training in education planning and management. A sustainable programme of collaboration is also under way with the State University of Haiti (UEH) to ensure the continuity of the sector's development efforts.
The accompaniment does not stop there. UNESCO also supports the ongoing curriculum reform of the MENFP, including the progressive integration of multilingual education, with particular emphasis on the use of Creole as a learning language.
