Port-au-Prince, 24 June 2025.- At the 14th edition of the Nation's Tuesdays, held at the Primature on Tuesday 24 June, the Minister of Trade and Industry, James Monazard, presented structural reforms, strategic priorities to boost the trade and industry sector, as well as development prospects initiated by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MCI).
Aware of the major consequences of insecurity on the proper functioning of enterprises, Minister Monazard said that the MCI has a special attention for the actors working in the field of shoemaking and sewing.

To this end, a major project is about to be launched by the end of July. This project, which has not yet been identified, has three key aspects: formalization, training and financial support.
In addition, as part of the innovative initiatives undertaken since its arrival, the MCI has increased from 4 to 40 sworn trade inspectors, in accordance with the requirements of the Act. Today, they have adequate training and equipment to carry out their mission.
According to the hierarchy, these inspectors are empowered to intervene in the field, in terms of assessing the price of products in circulation, the control and quality of products in circulation, and the calibration in petrol pumps throughout the country for the purpose of protecting consumers of goods and services.
As such, consumers whose rights are infringed by the setting of certain prices by companies will be able to dial emergency number 106 to submit their complaints.
