Fight against corruption: ULCC and the European Union consolidate their cooperation on governance

Port-au-Prince, January 17, 2026.- The Director-General of the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC), Hans Joseph, met on Tuesday 14 January 2026 with the EU Ambassador to Haiti, Hélène Roos, in a working session focusing on strengthening institutional cooperation in governance and the fight against corruption.

At the heart of the discussions were the state of progress in anti-corruption actions in Haiti and the prospects for cooperation between the ULCC and the European Union. The Head of Unit stressed the importance of the strategic partnership between the two institutions, based on common principles such as transparency, accountability, good governance and respect for the rule of law.

According to him, the support of the European Union remains crucial in accompanying structural reforms aimed at preventing and punishing corrupt practices in public administration.

Among the major initiatives supported by the European Union, Hans Joseph highlighted the implementation of the National Third Generation Heritage Declaration System (SYDEPIII). The aim of the new system is to modernise the legal and technical framework for the declaration of assets of public officials, by strengthening the mechanisms for monitoring, monitoring and traceability of information, in order to better prevent conflicts of interest and corruption.

Ambassador Hélène Roos welcomed, through a publication on social networks, the essential role played by the ULCC in the fight against corruption in Haiti. It reaffirmed the European Union's commitment to support the institution's efforts, which it considers a key player in strengthening the rule of law and promoting more transparent, accountable and inclusive public governance.
