Bas-Artibonite, 16 September 2025.- After the murderous attack on the Liancourt Office, armed gangs now control the entire Lower Artibonite. In the absence of staff and resources, the local police find themselves powerless in the face of the advance of bandits, according to Bertide Horace, spokesperson for the Commission de dialogue et reconciliation.
Gangs continue to tighten on Bas-Artibonite. Speaker on Radio Magik 9, Bertide Horace confirmed that the armed groups have complete control over several communes in the region, including Liancourt, Verrettes, La Chapelle and Petite-Rivière de l'Artibonite.
According to her, in the last attack on Liancourt's Office, the police officers, undernumbered and without adequate equipment, were forced to withdraw without resistance. This disengagement left the field open to the assailants, who now dictate their law in the area.
The spokesman pointed out that even the few police stations still occupied by agents were likely to fall soon due to the lack of reinforcements. An alarming situation that once again illustrates the fragility of the State in the face of the expansion of armed groups in the country.
