FOLONHA invites Elon Musk to invest billions on the Haitian economy

Port-au-Prince, July 31, 2026.- The Lorquet Foundation for a New Haiti (FOLONHA) calls on Elon Musk, entrepreneur and former senior advisor to President Donald Trump, to make major investments in Haiti in the sectors of industry, energy and infrastructure. The organisation believes that large-scale job creation is a sustainable response to the economic migration of Haitian workers to the Dominican Republic and a lever to strengthen the country's stability.

In a press release published this Friday, July 31, 2026, the Lorquet Foundation for a New Haiti (FOLONHA) invites the American entrepreneur Elon Musk to invest massively in Haiti in order to stimulate economic growth, create jobs and reduce the migration of Haitian workers to the Dominican Republic.

In a press release published on 31 July, the Foundation explains that this approach comes after the reactions of a publication on social networks in which Elon Musk replied « True » a message comparing the border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic with that between Israel and Gaza.

FOLONHA points out that, despite Elon Musk's investments in the United States, China, Germany and Mexico, its presence in the Caribbean remains limited. In Haiti, Starlink is available, but no major industrial or energy investment has yet been announced.

The organisation proposes the establishment of Tesla vehicle manufacturing plants, the development of solar energy and battery storage projects, as well as investments in technological infrastructure and industrial production.

According to the Foundation, multi-billion-dollar structural investments could help create jobs, improve infrastructure, strengthen the national economy and reduce insecurity. It also recalls that Haiti's geographical proximity to the United States and the availability of a workforce are assets for investors.

FOLONHA believes that economic development represents a more sustainable response to migration challenges than the strengthening of border controls. She thus appealed to Elon Musk and international investors to participate in the economic and social development of Haiti.
