Santiago, 31 July 2025.- During an official visit to Chile, US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem announced the signing of a bilateral agreement with the Chilean authorities on cooperation on immigration. The agreement aims to facilitate the identification and prosecution of criminals by sharing information between the two countries.
Trump's migration policy continues to tighten. Kristi Noem said the United States will share biometric data with Chile to better control migratory flows, track dangerous individuals and dismantle transnational criminal networks.
The preliminary agreement was signed with Chilean Ministers of Security, Luis Cordero, and Justice, Jaime Gajardo. It provides for the sharing of biometric data, such as fingerprints and iris scans, concerning immigrants deemed potentially dangerous. The aim is to prevent their entry into the United States and to facilitate their identification.
This new collaboration is part of a broader Trump administration strategy, which seeks to restrict access to US territory to people with a judicial background. In addition to the massive evictions announced, the United States relies on technological cooperation with Chile to strengthen migration control and combat organized crime.
