Washington, 1 October 2025.- On Wednesday, 1 October, the United States welcomed the adoption by the UN Security Council of a resolution on the transition from the multinational security support mission (MSS) to a gang law enforcement force (GSF), supported by a new UN Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH). Washington promises to work with its partners to ensure rapid deployment and end impunity for armed groups.

In a statement, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the creation of the GSF will address immediate security challenges while laying the foundations for lasting stability.

The United States intends to coordinate with members of the Permanent Group of Partners to ensure an international burden-sharing and the mobilization of sufficient resources to combat gangs.

Washington also commended Kenya and other MSS states for their efforts to address persistent insecurity. The transition to the GSF should enhance the effectiveness of this international mission through the logistical and institutional support of UNSOH.

« The era of impunity for those seeking to destabilize Haiti is over »said Marco Rubio. The United States reaffirms its commitment to work with all international actors to support Haiti towards peace, stability and democratic governance, while calling on all nations to join in this effort.
