Delmas, 27 October 2025.- Despite the weather, the Christian organization Haiti Teen Challenge, accompanied by the Lorquet Foundation for a New Haiti (FOLONHA) and other partners, visited the Prison of Delmas 33. This humanitarian initiative, part of the Detainees' Social Assistance and Rehabilitation Project, was aimed at providing spiritual, material and moral support to over 1,000 prisoners.
In an atmosphere of prayer and solidarity, members of the delegation of Haiti Teen Challenge and its partners went to the Delmas 33 Civil Prison to meet with the detainees and to show them compassion and hope. The activity is part of the Assistance and Social Reintegration Project of Detainees in Haiti, launched last September, whose aim is to improve living conditions in prisons and promote post-detention reintegration.
On site, a prayer and adoration service was conducted with the participation of Inspector Sylvestre Larack, head of the Centre for the Reintegration of Minors in Conflict with the Law (CERMICOL), and Pastor Jean Cherubin February, president of the Task Force for assisting prisoners. The latter reminded the detainees « they are not alone and nothing is lost »inviting them to « begin a new life based on faith and inner transformation ».
More than a thousand prisoners then received financial assistance, hygiene kits (savon, toothpaste, toilet paper...) and a hot meal, distributed by the team. The visit also strengthened the spiritual and psychological presence of prisoners, while initiating targeted social and legal support, especially for young people and women.
Dr Julio Volcy, leader of Haiti Teen Challenge, stressed that « Christian action cannot be limited to preaching in temples, but must also be embodied in concrete actions towards the most vulnerable. ». The Lorquet Foundation, represented by Alanta Maisonneuve and Nickenson Sanon, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote human dignity and social transformation.
