Port-au-Prince, August 26, 2025.- The Haitian government, through the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP), has signed a memorandum of understanding with the organization Humanity & Inclusion (formerly Handicap International) with a view to relaunching the rehabilitation sector and strengthening the country's essential public services. This agreement reflects the Executive's commitment to ensuring access to specialized care for the most vulnerable populations.
This commitment, led by the Minister of Health, Dr. Bertrand Sinal, is part of the momentum driven by the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) and the Prime Minister, who are working to rebuild a more accessible and resilient health system.
A communiqué from the Primature highlighted, inter alia, the impact of vandalism on health infrastructure, citing in particular the Bon Repos Rehabilitation Centre, which was severely damaged by armed groups, which resulted in a significant gap in the care of patients requiring specialized care.
This strategic partnership with Humanity & Inclusion aims to restructure rehabilitation services in Haiti. It provides for a strong cooperation framework to coordinate interventions, mobilize technical and financial resources, and provide care in accordance with international standards.
The agreement will effectively reduce the impact of non-communicable diseases, integrate services such as physiotherapy in hospitals, and increase access to care for all people in vulnerable situations.
Through this initiative, the MSPP and Humanity & Inclusion reaffirm their common commitment to make health an effective right for all, in a shared vision of a solidarity state, concerned with dignity and social equity.
