Port-au-Prince, September 7, 2025.- The Haitian military institution is in mourning. On Saturday, September 6, 2025, Colonel Joseph Jacques Thomas, Secretary of the State-Major of the HAD, died at the age of 70 from malaise caused by prostate cancer.
A respected figure in the Haitian army, Colonel Thomas returned his soul while he was at his office. Its disappearance constitutes a major loss for the Armed Forces of Haiti.
Colonel Thomas was recognized for his leadership and commitment to serving the Haitian army. His family entrusted the details of his illness to a nearby source, and Me. Péguy Jean relayed the information to the public.
In 2018, he had been appointed Secretary of the State-Major General as part of the restructuring of the Armed Forces of Haiti. He was a member of the High Staff, along with other senior officers. His career and his role in the military hierarchy made him a respected pillar of the institution.
