Pétion-Ville, November 4, 2025.- On Monday, November 3, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs (MAEC) commemorated the 80th anniversary of the creation of the United Nations (UN) at a conference held at the Montana Hotel in Petion City. The event, chaired by Minister Jean-Victor Harvel Jean-Baptiste, brought together diplomats, academics and representatives of international organizations. On that occasion, Haiti, a founding member of the United Nations, reaffirmed its commitment to peace, multilateralism and international cooperation.

In an atmosphere of reflection and solemnity, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cults, Jean-Victor Harvel Jean-Baptiste, opened the ceremony by recalling the symbolic significance of this commemoration for Haiti. A founding member of the United Nations, the country remains, in his view, faithful to the universal values of peace, solidarity and respect for international law. « Celebrating the 80th anniversary of the UN is renewing our commitment to a fairer, more equitable and safer world », he said.

The symposium, organized in partnership with the Jean Price-Mars Diplomatic Academy, also served as a framework for the integration of the fifth cohort of the Master II programme in diplomacy and international cooperation. Composed of 30 students, including 15 women and 15 men, this joint promotion symbolizes, according to the Minister, the government's commitment to promoting inclusive and modern diplomacy. The Chancellor encouraged new entrants to cultivate excellence, rigour and a sense of dialogue in a rapidly changing world.

For its part, the representative of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (UNIH), Sancho Coutinho, renewed the organization's commitment to support Haiti in its reconstruction and stability efforts. He stressed that the UN remains « a space for cooperation and collective solutions to global challenges that transcend borders »welcoming Haiti ' s historic contribution to the promotion of multilateralism.

On the sidelines of the symposium, a photographic exhibition depicting Haiti's participation in UN forums since 1945 was presented to the public. This activity, which will continue until 7 November in the premises of the Jean Price-Mars Academy, illustrates the continuity of Haitian commitment to the UN ideals and the country's will to remain an active player in the international community.
