Liancourt, 22 July 2025.- A patrol of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) was ambushed this Tuesday in Liancourt by members of the armed gang « Gran Grif ». At least two police officers were killed in atrocious conditions, another was reported missing, and an armoured vehicle was burned.
The municipality of Liancourt, in the department of Artibonite, was once again the scene of a violent armed attack. According to local sources and a member of a self-defence group contacted on the spot, members of the "Gran Grif" gang ambushed a PNH patrol early this Tuesday, July 22.
The attackers used Molotov cocktails to set fire to an armoured vehicle with approximately four policemen. When panicked, the agents tried to escape, but two of them failed to escape their attackers.
Atrocious videos, circulating on social networks, show the bodies of the two police officers maimed and exposed, in an act of cruelty claimed by the bandits. A third officer is still missing.
This attack is part of a series of bloody gang actions in Artibonite, a region under growing tension. The inhabitants, overwhelmed by violence, demand a strong response from the authorities.
The incident revives the debate on the operational capacity of the HNP in the face of heavily equipped armed groups, which continue to expand their influence in several parts of the country, particularly in Lower Artibonite.
