Haiti is officially eliminated from the 2026 World Cup before even playing its third group game. This situation is explained by the new draw system adopted for the tournament, which gives priority to direct confrontations between equal points teams before taking into account the difference in goals.
Beat successively by Scotland and then by Brazil, the Grenadiers can no longer hope to finish in the first two places of their group. Even a victory in their last meeting against Morocco, scheduled for Wednesday 24 June, would no longer allow them to reverse the situation.
According to the BBC, with the old ranking system favoring the difference of goals, Haiti would have retained a mathematical chance of qualification until the last day. Together with Turkey and Tunisia, the Haitian selection is thus among the first teams officially eliminated from the 2026 World Cup before the third day of the group phase.
