Washington, June 30, 2025.- Faced with the many uncertainties surrounding the future of TikTok in the United States, US President Donald Trump confirmed this Sunday that he had found a buyer for the application. He claims, however, that he awaits China's approval, without revealing the identity of the buyer.
A guest of Sunday Morning Futures on Fox News, Donald Trump said, according to the Spanish newspaper EFE, that an agreement is under way regarding the purchase of TikTok. « We will probably need China's approval. », he said, adding that the potential buyer would be a technology giant « very rich », without giving more details.
It should be recalled that TikTok has already been briefly banned in the United States. Under the Biden administration, Congress had passed a binding law byteDance, TikTok's Chinese parent company, to assign the application to an American investor not considered to be a « opponent » of the United States.
Since his return to power last January, Donald Trump has signed a decree extending TikTok's deadline to comply with the law by 75 days, and then a second time on June 19, extending the deadline to September 17.
The EFE newspaper also reported that Trump expressed appreciation for TikTok, believing that the application has increased its popularity with young voters, thus contributing to its electoral victory.
