Pétion-Ville, August 19, 2026.- The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MCI) symbolically handed over cheques to 242 beneficiaries of three entrepreneurship support programmes on Wednesday, August 19. Selected from more than 2,500 projects analysed, the beneficiaries present initiatives that should contribute to the creation of more than 1,400 direct and indirect jobs.
The ceremony, held in Pétion-Ville, was attended by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, Minister of Trade and Industry James Monazard, as well as several government officials and programme coordinators. Funding is provided through the Women's Entrepreneurship Support Programme (FSAP), the Youth Entrepreneurship Support Programme (YESP) and the Integrated Enterprise Development Programme (IED). The projects selected include agroprocessing, crafts, technology, services, green economy and recycling. The MCI states that the three schemes are financed exclusively by the Treasury.
Minister James Monazard said these programs are also based on the mobilization of the skills and networks of public institutions. According to him, this intervention aims to support enterprises in the development of their activities and to support productive investment.
For his part, the Prime Minister gave a social dimension to the figures announced, believing that behind the beneficiaries there are families who can find opportunities and entrepreneurs who will strengthen their activities. He also presented women, youth and entrepreneurs as major components of the country's wealth.
Beyond the delivery of cheques, attention is now focused on the use of funds and the results of selected projects. The actual creation of the jobs announced, the viability of the enterprises accompanied and the impact of these investments on economic activity will make it possible to measure in concrete terms the effects of the three MCI programmes.
