Port-au-prince, August 25, 2025.- The Haitian Prime Minister, Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, presented this August 25 a symbolic check of 100 million gourdes to the U-17 national team, leaving for the FIFA Qatar 2025 World Cup. This initiative, praised by the sports and political authorities, marks strong and assumed state support for national sport, bringing hope, unity and outreach to Haiti.
In a ceremony marked with national pride, organized at the Primature this Monday, August 25, the Haitian government formalized a financial support of 100 million gourdes in favor of the U-17 male selection. This symbolic gesture comes a few weeks away from the start of our young Grenadiers for the FIFA World Cup, Qatar 2025.
Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, accompanied by Niola Lynn Sarah Octavius, Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, and Alfred Fils Métellus, Minister of Economy and Finance, personally handed over the cheque. Several personalities, including PM's Chief of Staff, Mr.Axène Joseph, and representatives of the Haitian Football Federation, were also present.
« The flag you will wear is not only a symbol, it is the soul of Haiti »said the Head of Government in an emotional address to young players, urging them to wear high national colours and embody the dignity and unity of the country.
For her part, Minister Octavius highlighted the history of Haitian football in this category, recalling the achievements of 2007 and 2019, and welcoming the discipline of young Grenadiers. It also reaffirmed the Government's commitment to make sport a real pillar of development and social cohesion.
Ms. Gally Amazan, member of the FHF Committee for Standardization, praised this unprecedented support as a « concrete evidence of the State's commitment to youth and sport »in connection with the recently signed three-year partnership.
This financial envelope aims to ensure the optimal preparation of the selection, strengthen its technical framework and enable it to represent the country in a dignified manner on the international stage.
The meeting is therefore set: our U-17s will not only have the talent and determination, but also the firm support of an entire nation to mark history in Qatar 2025.
