Mexico City, September 4, 2025.- At a joint conference in Mexico City, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Mexican Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente announced an unprecedented strengthening of security cooperation between the two countries. This new strategy includes the fight against transnational cartels, the trafficking of fentanyl, weapons, as well as the maritime routes used by narcoterrorists in the Caribbean, an area where Haiti remains particularly exposed.
The United States and Mexico have decided to take a course in their cooperation against transnational crime. Following a meeting with President Claudia Sheinbaum, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his Mexican counterpart Juan Ramón de la Fuente presented a joint statement laying the foundations for collaboration « historical » to dismantle cartels, strengthen border security and combat drug and arms trafficking.

De son côté, le Mexique a rappelé son attachement au respect de la souveraineté et à une coopération équilibrée. « Ce travail coordonné se fera sur la base de la réciprocité, du respect mutuel et de la confiance « , a insisté De la Fuente.
