Strengthening IP dispute resolution: CCAH and ASIPI join their expertise

Port-au-Prince, October 27, 2025.- The Chamber of Conciliation and Arbitration of Haiti (CCAH) and the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) held on Tuesday, October 14, a high-level webinar on the theme: « Effective mechanisms to prevent and resolve intellectual property disputes ». This event is part of a cooperation agreement to promote rapid, confidential and effective out-of-court solutions to intellectual property disputes, a major challenge in an increasingly digital and interconnected world.

Intellectual property at the heart of the modernization of law in Haiti

In his opening address, Mr. Georges Henry, Secretary General of the CCAH, highlighted the strategic scope of this collaboration. In his view, this approach not only aims to raise awareness among public and private actors of Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms (ADRs), but also to strengthen national capacities in mediation and arbitration specialized in intellectual property.

« An intellectual good is a creation derived from human imagination. In a world where technology facilitates reproduction and counterfeiting, protecting these intangible assets becomes an economic and ethical imperative », said Mr. Henry.

    Concrete mechanisms for creativity

The discussions brought together several Haitian and international experts, including Mr. Johanny Stanley Joseph (CCAH) and Guillaume de la Bigne (ASIPI), who presented concrete models of mediation and arbitration adapted to complex disputes over trademarks, copyrights and patents.
Stakeholders highlighted the benefits of a flexible and confidential legal framework that can reduce the burden on the courts while protecting the interests of innovators and creators.

A sustainable vision for the protection of ideas in Haiti

Through this initiative, the CCAH reaffirms its commitment to promote a culture of peaceful settlement of disputes and to foster an environment conducive to innovation and creation.
The institution intends to continue its work of training and raising awareness among lawyers, entrepreneurs, public institutions and creators to consolidate a true Haitian ecosystem of intellectual property.
