An awareness-raising workshop for first-voters was held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in the South Department, with the support of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) and the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (UNIH). The activity aimed to inform young people about their civic rights and responsibilities in the democratic process.
On this occasion, the Departmental Director of the Ministry for the Status of Women and Women's Rights (MCFDF), Claire Yves-Rose Elysée, recalled the importance of youth participation in public life. She stressed that voting is one of the main means of citizen participation and that young people are an important component of the electoral system.
The workshop also addressed the issue of the participation of young women in decision-making spaces. The discussions focused on citizen engagement, the representation of women in public life and the challenges of inclusion and participation of different segments of the population in democratic processes.
