The Iranian Football Federation denounces the failure of FIFA President Gianni Infantino's commitments to access its representatives to the 2026 World Cup matches in the United States, according to Reuters. Fifteen members of the federation, including Mahdi Mohammad Nabi, head of the Iranian delegation, were denied an American visa.
According to the US authorities, these refusals are motivated by national security concerns and the desire to prevent any attempted fraudulent entry into the country. FIFA claims that it does not have the power to influence the migration decisions of host countries.
Mahdi Mohammad Nabi called on Gianni Infantino to honour the promises made to Iran and to ensure strict compliance with FIFA rules and protocols by all parties concerned.
