At the end of the mission, the Haitian government pays tribute to Ms. Ulrika Richardson

Pétion-Ville, August 6, 2025.- A farewell cocktail was held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the Karibe Hotel, in honour of Ms. Ulrika Richardson, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Resident Coordinator in Haiti. Several political and diplomatic figures commended his commitment to the country. A symbolic present was given to him by the Prime Minister as a sign of gratitude.

 

The Haitian diplomatic and political community met at the Karibe Hotel on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, to pay a sustained tribute to Ms. Ulrika Richardson, on the occasion of the end of her mission as Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Resident Coordinator in Haiti.

 

These included Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, Minister of Education Antoine Augustin, Minister of Justice Patrick Pélissier, Minister of Status of Women Pédrica Saint-Jean, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Victor Harvel Jean-Baptiste. Members of the diplomatic corps were also present, as were general directors of institutions such as the ULCC, OAVCT and the PNCS.

 

In his speech, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Alfred Fils Métellus, praised the frank cooperation between Mrs Richardson and her ministry, stressing that this cooperation has enabled the implementation of projects that are significant for the population.

 

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Victor Harvel Jean-Baptiste, recognized the role of Ms. Richardson in strengthening the credibility of the UN system in Haiti. He commended his commitment to the principles of diplomacy and his continued involvement in the country ' s affairs.

 

The Prime Minister, for his part, presented a symbolic present, thus expressing the recognition of the Haitian government for its commitment and the services rendered throughout its mission.

 

Speaking, Ms. Ulrika Richardson said that she would have liked to see Haiti in a better position at the end of her mandate, while acknowledging the efforts of the current government to move the country forward. She expressed her honour for serving in Haiti in such a strategic position.
