Tabarre, July 19, 2025.- In an official message published on the website of the Embassy of the United States in Haiti, the American Chargé d'affaires, Henry Wooster, addressed the Haitian people. He stressed the seriousness of the security crisis and announced a strengthening of United States support for the Haitian National Police (HNP) and the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS).
In this statement of about two minutes, Mr Wooster delivered his first official message to the Haitian people. He praised the richness of Haitian culture, its history and the resilience of its population, while reaffirming the commitment of the United States to strengthen its partnership with Haiti in this difficult time.
« En cette période sans précédent, notre priorité est de faire face à la situation sécuritaire. Depuis trop longtemps, des gangs criminels utilisent la violence pour terroriser le pays, dans le but de s’enrichir personnellement, au détriment des citoyens haïtiens « , a-t-il déclaré.
The diplomat reaffirmed his country's commitment, alongside the Haitian people and the international community, to support the HNP and MSS in the fight against insecurity. He also invited citizens to make their ideas and aspirations heard to build a safer and stronger Haiti, concluding his message with a Creole proverb: « Men anpil, chay pa lou. »
