Port-au-Prince, 24 July 2025.- At the inauguration of its renovated office in Canapé-Vert, the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) organized, on Tuesday 22 July 2025, the second edition of its Open Doors Day. The institution claims to have welcomed more than 500 visitors.

The DIE calls this initiative a success. The event took place from 9am to 4pm, with an official ceremony from 9.30am to 10.30am. Passport applicants were able to receive their documents on the same day. The institution also made available information useful to taxpayers as well as counters to collect complaints and suggestions.

In an approach of efficiency, transparency and continuous training of staff, the DIE has started a tour of the Far North since 25 June to assess the quality of the travel document delivery service.

Several measures have also been adopted following a visit to the Dominican Republic to improve Haitian access to passport services:

– Installation of fixed and mobile digital posts in each consulate, capable of processing up to 80 applications per day;

– Deployment of mobile units to factories and plantations;

– The establishment of an online complaint cell between consulates;

– And the adoption of an administrative protocol for the safe and urgent transfer of files to the Central Office of the IED.

Finally, the government, through the DIE, reiterates its determination to effectively serve the Haitian Nation by providing travel documents as soon as possible.
